Nissan Navara towing capacity, GVM and payload

The all-new D27 Navara arrived as dual cab 4x4 auto only, with payload just over a tonne on most grades. It publishes both axle ratings and a notably low roof limit.

What eats your payload on a Navara

Canopy and drawers

Nissan publishes a rear axle rating for the D27, so the calculator can check a rear-loaded build properly. With payload hovering around a tonne, a canopy and fit-out is roughly a third of it.

Bar work and a winch

Front-end weight, checked here against a published front axle rating rather than a modelled one, which is the better position to be in when you are deciding between an alloy and a steel bar.

Anything on the roof

This is the one to watch on a Navara. The published roof load rating is very low by class standards, low enough that a rooftop tent and its platform can exceed it on their own before anyone climbs in.

Navara specifics worth knowing

The launch range is narrower than the old Navara's

At launch the D27 is dual cab 4x4 pick-up auto only. No cab chassis, no manual, no 4x2. If you are looking at a cab chassis Navara, it is the previous D23 generation and it carries different figures entirely.

The roof rating is the lowest here

Most utes in our database publish a roof rating around 100kg or do not publish one at all. The Navara's published figure is well below that, so check it before you commit to a roof platform, let alone a tent.

A Warrior variant is not in these figures

The performance-focused variant was not published in the spec sheet we transcribed. When Nissan publishes its figures we will add them; until then, do not assume the standard grades' numbers apply to it.

Nissan Navara questions

What is the towing capacity of the new Nissan Navara?

3,500kg braked across the launch range. The GCM caps the combination, so towing at the maximum reduces what you can carry in the ute.

What is the payload of a Navara D27?

Just over a tonne on most grades. Select your variant above for the exact figure, calculated from Nissan's published GVM and kerb weight.

Does the new Navara come as a cab chassis?

Not at launch. The D27 range is dual cab 4x4 pick-up auto only. Earlier D23 Navaras were offered in more body styles and have their own figures.

What is the Navara's roof load limit?

Nissan publishes a figure well below the class norm. It is shown in the key figures above, and it is worth reading before buying a roof rack system.

Does the Navara publish axle ratings?

Yes, both front and rear, which means the calculator checks your build against real published limits rather than modelled estimates.
