The Cannon range spans a lot of ground, from a conventional workhorse to the Cannon Alpha PHEV, which has the tightest payload of any ute we hold figures for. The variant you pick matters enormously here.
Cannon / Cannon Alpha (current). 10 variants, figures transcribed from the manufacturer's spec sheets.
GWM Cannon
Already set to the GWM Cannon. Choose your variant, add what you're fitting, and see what payload you have left.
Cannon / Cannon Alpha (current). Payload is GVM minus kerb weight, before you fit anything or put anyone in it.

You do not fit this one, it comes with the vehicle. The plug-in hybrid drivetrain adds several hundred kilos of kerb weight, and all of it comes out of payload. That is why the Alpha PHEV's figure is the lowest of any ute here, beaten only by two heavy wagons.
GWM publishes a rear axle rating across the range, so a rear-heavy build can be checked against a real limit. On the tighter variants a canopy and fit-out can be most of the payload on its own.
Between 320kg and 350kg depending on variant, and it is payload. On the PHEV that single number is close to half of everything the vehicle is allowed to carry.
Some variants are rated lower. If towing capacity is why you are buying, check the figure for the exact variant rather than the headline number for the range.
Under 700kg. A tray or canopy, a couple of passengers and a full tank of water can put it over GVM before you have loaded any gear. It is a capable vehicle, but it is not the one to build into a heavy tourer.
The two differ by around 50kg on some variants. We use the kerb figure. If a dealer quotes you a payload based on tare, it is optimistic by roughly that margin.
It varies enormously, from around 685kg on the Cannon Alpha PHEV to over 1,100kg on the lighter conventional variants. Select yours in the table above.
Some variants can and some are rated lower. Check the figure for your exact variant on this page rather than the range headline.
The plug-in hybrid system adds substantial kerb weight, and payload is GVM minus kerb weight. Nothing is wrong with the vehicle; it simply starts heavier, so it can carry less.
It varies widely across the range. The figure for your variant, and the spec sheet behind it, are in the table on this page.
GWM publishes a rear axle rating. Front ratings are not published, so front axle loads shown by the calculator are modelled and labelled as estimates.
